James has extensive experience in the property sector, specialising in affordable housing investment, acquisitions, and development. He has a strong track record in originating and delivering large-scale transactions, and has built long-standing relationships with housing associations, developers, and public bodies.
Prior to joining MTD Housing, James was Senior Acquisition and Partnership Lead at Sage Housing, The Blackstone Group’s Affordable Housing Fund, where he transacted over £350m of affordable housing opportunities.
Since joining MTD Housing in 2021, he has played a central role in scaling the organisation, shaping its strategic direction and embedding a disciplined, partnership-led approach to growth and delivery.
In 2025, he was appointed Chief Executive, leading MTD Housing with a clear focus on sustainable growth, strong customer outcomes, and long-term sector impact.
